The International Conference on Banking and Finance (ICBF) was first organized by Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) in 2000. ICBF serves as a great platform for academics and researchers to present and share the findings of their studies. In addition, it also provides an opportunity for academics and practitioners to discuss and exchange ideas pertaining to current research issues, best practices and practical experience gathered in all areas of finance and banking. For this 5th ICBF, the School of Economics, Finance and Banking of UUM is collaborating with the School of Economics and Business of the University of Sarajevo to hold the conference in Bosnia Herzegovina. A particular highlight is the holding of a workshop on Computable General Equilibrium models (CGE) for scholars and researchers.
The theme of this conference, "Inclusion, Inequality, and Financial Stability - New Challenges" is suggested by the momentous changes, in both thought and practice, taking place in banking and finance. In this spirit, we invite papers on all the traditional areas listed below and also welcome novel analyses and solutions - whether it be on shadow banking, cross-border flows, negative interest rates, regional economic blocs, or the political choice of monetary systems.
The scope of the submitted papers includes, but is not limited to, the following topics:

On the basis of recommendations provided by peer reviewers, selected papers may be published in selected indexed journal as below:

There is also a possibility of publishing selected papers in a book. This will be discussed in the conference, in a session to be announced later.
ICBF is delighted to announce a competition for excellent paper/s. Entries will be judged on the quality of the paper, including the presentation. Only those who present full papers at the conference will be considered.
Paper submission and reviewing will be conducted through the OpenConf Peer Review and Conference Management System.
Authors are required to upload and submit their papers online.

This workshop will provide a user friendly introduction to CGE’s or Computable General Equilibrium models. The aim is to provide a small, yet practical, example of what a CGE does, its potential and its limitations. It will be based entirely on Excel and this makes the procedures transparent. Participants will then be a position to separate questions of data, computation, statistics and economic policy in the use of CGE’s. Participants will be asked to bring their own laptops and given the Excel file which will run the CGE program. The initial talk will introduce the participants to a Social Accounting Matrix or SAM, and a practical example of the data issues involved in building a SAM. This will be followed by second talk which provides an example of a small scale CGE and the use of the CGE for policy questions will be illustrated. Participants will work along with the instructor, so this will be a hands-on workshop. Along the way, questions about functional forms and algorithms will be addressed.

Accompanying persons: The conference is not offering an accompanying person's registration fee. Anyone wishing to attend any part of the conference must register as a participant. At least one author of each accepted paper must register and pay the conference fees by 30th June 2017 in order for the paper to be included in the program book. Papers will be considered for publication in the Conference Proceedings if you pay at anytime BEFORE the conference.
